ACS is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer–Machine Automation to join our headquartered office in Middleton, WI. This individual will ensure the client’s needs for custom Industrial automation are met or exceeded by leading the design process from concept to manufacturing and factory acceptance testing. This is accomplished through understanding of the client’s budget, schedule and design criteria, as well as thorough engineering analysis and proper execution of the design process.   Core Job Responsibilities: - Leads multi-system integrated equipment projects from concept to build - Creates and executes equipment project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. - Involved in design reviews in all stages of design process; provide technical mentoring and assistance to group members as needed. - Performs detailed engineering functions including: engineering calculations, create hardware schematics, works with others to use CREO / SolidWorks to develop 3D models, selects and purchases devices, and works with ACS Manufacturing Facility to design for manufacturability. - Oversees and performs Factory Acceptance Testing processes and documentation for main types of systems and equipment at ACS Manufacturing Facility as required to ensure equipment is functioning to client’s specifications before shipment. - Travels to client location to oversee installation and commissioning of equipment.   Basic requirements include: - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Degree. - Experience designing complex and/or precision mechanical systems such as: Automated assembly machines, fixtures and robotic systems is required - Working knowledge of industrial control systems: PLC’s, analog/digital sensors, safety systems, motors and drives - System and process design experience - Machine concept layout, robot and/or fixed automation utilization planning. - Knowledge of production equipment qualification standards (GR&R’s, Capability Studies) - Working knowledge of engineering calculations including but not limited to: kinematics, power, torque, structural, cylinders, cams, air and oil flow/pressure calculations, machine cycle time etc. - Effective problem solving, judgment, and independent thinking skills for troubleshooting, repair, and recognition of acceptable or unacceptable product quality. - Demonstrates excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.     ACS offers competitive wages and annual bonuses; excellent benefits including health and dental insurance, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.   ACS is an engineering and construction management firm with a focus on technically complex equipment and facilities for engine and vehicle research and development; medical, science, and technology laboratories; and manufacturing facilities. ACS is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer.  This individual will work within a group of controls engineers to fulfill the instrumentation and controls responsibilities for a variety of process and industrial projects.     Job responsibilities:   - Develop and/or review control system architecture, flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control sequences, and design specifications. - Analyze risks and hazards, and conducting risk analyses - Create responsibility matrices, instrument indexes, bills of material (BOMs) and other project tools. - Develop and/or review wiring schematics and control panel layout drawings. - Program and integrate Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) including offerings from Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, Wago, etc. - Design, set up, and perform system functionality tests on equipment in our manufacturing facility and at customer sites. - Develop wire pull schedules and scope of work documents for contractors to use in bidding and construction. - Perform onsite startup and validation of equipment - I/O checkout and troubleshooting, calibrate instrumentation and tune PID loops. - Validate programming to confirm systems operate per control sequences   Basic requirements include: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. - Must have experience in preparing drawings using AutoCAD electrical.  - Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design/build/programming of PLC systems with field experience, from design to start-up. - Minimum 5 years’ experience programming in ladder logic - Experience involving engine test cell instrumentation & control design, integration, troubleshooting and commissioning. - Ability to interpret and create Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). - Experience providing efficient, and effective client service, including balancing multiple projects and responding to changes in deadline, scope and design. - Demonstrates strong technical writing and oral communication skills. - Ability to travel to customer facilities with several overnight stays (25-40%), nationally for design meetings, equipment installation supervision and commissioning. - Must have the following personal skills and characteristics:  Problem solving skills, strong organizational and time management skills, team player, takes initiative to improve personal skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups.   ACS offers competitive wages and annual bonuses; excellent benefits including health and dental insurance, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.   ACS is an engineering and construction management firm with a focus on technically complex equipment and facilities for engine and vehicle research and development; medical, science, and technology laboratories; and manufacturing facilities. ACS is a single-source provider of fully integrated facility, equipment, and controls solutions, serving a Fortune 500 client base around the world is seeking a Test Equipment Engineer with engine/vehicle testing and/or facilities experience and acoustics/vibration experience and is interested in a rewarding career in a fast-paced, team environment.  This individual will provide assistance with test equipment integration, specification, procurement, installation, and/or commissioning.  The individual will also serve the needs of clients or engineers requesting assistance with vibration/acoustics testing, analysis, design, and successful application of solutions.  This position will be located at our office in Troy, Michigan.   Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:    - Work with clients and vendors to specify, procure, and manage the design/delivery of major test equipment, including instrumentation, dynamometers, and data acquisition systems. - Schedule and manage vendors and sub-contractors during installation and commissioning phases of test facility projects. - Develop schedules, lists, and other tools to communicate equipment details and installation requirements to other project staff and contractors. - Obtain, review, and report on test equipment quotations, proposals, and technical submissions.  Provide insight and recommendations of suppliers appropriate to fulfill specification requirements. - Will work with owners and test cell operators to complete performance verification of test engine or vehicle test cells. - Sound and vibration testing and analysis including spectral analysis, dynamic analysis, data acquisition, instrumentation, digital signal analysis, and/or structure borne noise mitigation. - Structural vibration isolation and dampening analysis on facilities & equipment. - Designing and successful implementation of acoustic and vibration mitigation solutions.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:   - Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in engineering. - Minimum 5 years of experience with (automotive) product, system testing, or development.  - An understanding of engine subsystems and their interaction as it impacts engine performance and emissions. - Understanding of acoustic and vibration testing standards is preferred. - Ability to travel to customer facilities with several overnight stays (up to 30%), nationally and overseas, for design meetings, equipment installation supervision and commissioning. - Experience providing efficient, and effective client service, including balancing multiple projects and responding to changes in deadline, scope and design. - Demonstrates highly effective oral and written communication skills, ability to work as a committed team member.
