Electrical Designer/Engineer - Instrumentation & Controls

 

ACS is looking for an Electrical Designer/Engineer to join our team.  ACS specializes in the engineering, integration and construction of technically complex R&D and production equipment, controls, and facilities.  With a positive, collaborative company culture, we are proud to have been named a “Top Workplace” since 2019.  

 

The Electrical Designer/Engineer will work within a group of controls, electrical and software engineers to fulfill the drafting responsibilities for a variety of process and industrial projects. 

 

This position is located in our Verona, WI office.   

 

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design Phase

  • Work alongside a project team to
    • Interpret design specifications and user requirements
    • Develop and/or review wiring schematics and control panel layout drawings per UL 508A
    • Create and modify process and instrumentation drawings/diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Create electrical power & lighting plans
  • Work with suppliers and internal Purchasing to procure instrumentation and controls equipment for projects.
  • Create work orders and coordinate control panel manufacturing with our Manufacturing facility.
  • Assist with performing system functionality tests on equipment in our manufacturing facility.
  • Assist with developing wire pull schedules and scope of work documents for contractors to use in bidding and construction.

 

Commissioning Phase

  • Assist with I/O checkout, troubleshooting, and instrument calibration.

 

Basic requirements include: 

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical required.
  • Experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Experience with low voltage control systems, instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and data acquisition systems is a plus
  • Expected to meet client deadlines, including balancing multiple tasks and responding to changes in deadline, scope and design as they occur
  • Demonstrates good technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities for design meetings
  • Must have the following personal skills and characteristics: Problem solving skills, strong organizational and time management skills, team player, takes initiative to improve personal skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups.
